Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy (LIT) Information:

LIT is a treatment originally recommended by Dr Alan E. Beer, a pioneer in the field of reproductive immunology. LIT is the subcutaneous administration (i.e., 3-5 shallow injections under the skin of the upper part of the arm) of purified lymphocytes from your partner (like a vaccine) which theoretically may have several advantageous effects, including diminishing NK cytotoxicity, increasing T-regulatory cells and sensitizing you against your partner’s antigens in cases of negative LAD tests or HLA matching. You will be covered by the LIT for around 4-6 months (depending on the severity of the problem) while you are trying to get pregnant, and you will need to repeat it only if you get a positive result depending on the severity of the problem. Because during pregnancy travelling is not advisable, if all goes well and you are pregnant, your partner may come alone, have the LIT prepared and take it back home where he or your doctor may administer it to you.

The LIT procedure: The LIT procedure is very simple. You will first arrive early in the morning and your partner will give blood for the LIT after his blood has been tested for HBV, HCV and HIV (a typical procedure for LIT). It should be relatively early so that there is enough time to prepare the vaccine and have the test results ready before its administration. In the meantime, you can have a walk, a cup of coffee or something to eat, visit the sites or anything else to pass the time, and return later in the evening when a doctor will administer the LIT. The procedure takes less than 10 min and you can resume normal activities immediately after.
